At the moment, the Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus 2 are hot properties in the market. No wonder, the Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2 is always on the cards. Both variants are the enhanced versions of their respective predecessors.
Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2
We have talked about the OnePlus 2 on a couple of occasions before. It is time we took a close look at the phone with a different perspective – in a comparison form.
The OnePlus 2 variant with 64GB will soon hit India. The mid-range phone promises a lot and as this is a flagship model, will be a sought after device. But let’s not forget that the Asus Zenfone 2 is the first device on earth to be built with 4GB of RAM.
But then, OnePlus 2 also has 4GB RAM. As a matter of fact, at this moment, only the Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus 2 have 4GB RAM. This makes Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2 an interesting comparison.
Let’s start with the display. Now see, there’s nothing to choose between the displays. The screen of both devices is the same at 5.5 inches. The IPS display comes with Full HD with a resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels. There’s the Corning Gorilla Glass protection for both devices.
There’s no word on what brightness levels Asus has used, but OnePlus says that they have the highest standards in the market currently at 600nits.
However, the display doesn’t look to have a lot of variation, which could be due to the use of colors or the warmth therein.
So, on this point, there’s nothing much to choose between Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2.
Both these Smartphones have almost similar battery backups. The Asus phone has 3,000mAh battery, while the OnePlus 2 has a slightly better with 3,300mAh. However, OnePlus 2 gives better backup than the Asus phone.
OnePlus 2 can give a backup of up to a day-and-half, while Asus Zenphone 2 loses breath in a day’s time. Speaking of OnePlus 2, if the phone is used moderately, the backup can last for almost a couple of days.
The drawback of OnePlus 2 is that it requires a whopping three hours for a full charge. This means the presence of USB Type C doesn’t help in quick-charging. However, for Asus Zenfone 2, 30 minutes are sufficient for charging at least up to 60%.
As mentioned above, both Asus Zenfone 2 and OnePlus 2 run on 4GB RAM. However, there is difference between the processors. However, the Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor that runs on 1.8GHz processor powers OnePlus 2. On the other hand, the Asus Zenfone 2 is powered by the 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3580 chipset.
The processors of both these devices are built on 64-bit chipset. But, OnePlus 2 has the upper hand, because it uses the latest and powerful processer as compared to Asus Zenfone 2.
But, there wasn’t any noticeable difference in the output delivered by both the Smartphones. It was smooth, the only variation being the slowness of the Zenfone when playing a heavy game like Real Racing.
That’s why once again, nothing much to choose between Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2.
The metal frame of OnePlus 2 immediately gives the impression that it’s a premium phone. That certainly looks better than the Zenfone. As the phone is a tad small in size, it is easy to carry in hands and in pockets too.
The back of the device – with a sandstone look – gets the better of Asus. The position of the keys look very comfortable and so is certainly easier to handle.
On the other hand, the volume and power keys for Asus Zenfone 2 aren’t ideally placed. The volume keys are to the back of the device, while the power button is at the top. The idea for the volume keys to take to the back is that it will be convenient for either hand to use them.
As the Asus phone is a big device, it is not uncomfortable to reach for the power button at the top.
That’s why, regarding the design of Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2, OnePlus 2 is a tad better.
On the camera front, both devices are built with 13MP primary snapper with f/2.0 aperture. In simple words, there’s more scope for brighter images, no matter how strong the surrounding light is.
However, the Asus phone is a tad on the higher side than the OnePlus 2. The reason is that the Zenfone 2 allows you to snap even with the volume keys. This device also boasts of more features as well.
HDR mode in Asus device is simply the best when it comes to Smartphones. The software in the camera is lightening fast and you can take snaps one after the other almost immediately.
Comparatively, there are lesser options in the OnePlus 2 and it’s evident from the comparison between Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2. There are three available modes in the snapper, namely Beauty, HDR and Clear Shot.
There were reports regarding the concerns about OnePlus 2’s heating issue, when the company announced that they would be using the Snapdragon 810 chip. The same chip is used in the Sony Xperia Z3+. But, the heating problem seems to have been solved in the OnePlus 2 device. The Smartphone uses v2.1 along with graphite and thermal for fixing the heating problem.
All in all, there’s very little to choose between Asus Zenfone 2 vs OnePlus 2. At the moment, these are the best contenders with 4GB RAM.
