Facebook likely to change privacy policy once again

Mega social networking site Facebook is very likely to bring some more changes to their privacy policies. These changes are being addressed as ‘updates’. The update is likely to explain the way they would be using the data they have with them.

It is a personal data of nearly 1.2 billion users that are registered with Facebook. The mega social networking site has said that the update will address the way they will be using the data for delivering various personalized services and ads.

Facebook has modified a couple of important documents, namely the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and the Data Use Policy. It will be explaining how the profile picture of a user and his/her name, etc. may be used when delivering any commercial stuff.Facebook

The changes that are proposed in the update are “You give us permission to use your name, profile picture, content, and information in connection with commercial, sponsored, or related content (such as a brand you like) served or enhanced served or enhanced by us.”

This means that the previous mention in the privacy policy “you can use your privacy settings to limit how your name and profile picture may be associated with commercial” does not exist anymore.

The Chief Privacy Officer, (Policy) of Facebook Erin Egan, has said that the mega social site has revised the explanation of how the details of the users will be used. The details include the name, the content as well as the profile picture.

The policy also mentions that they could use the GPS or any other location info that can be used to alert the friends if they are in the vicinity.
