Gear VR support for Galaxy users isn’t coming for the devices. Users should wait for the official launch of Android 7.0 Nougat instead of going for Nougat beta through Galaxy Beta program.
Gear VR Support
The latest Android 7.0 Nougat beta brought problems for the Gear VR users along with missing Gear VR support. Samsung recently launched the Galaxy beta program to provide the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge users, features of the updated version of Android 7.0 Nougat beta. The update is already available in the United States, South Korea, United Kingdom and China. The launch date of the stable version of Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge is not yet announced by Samsung.
All the users who are not using Samsung Gear VR can update the system by registering through the Galaxy beta Program app for beta firmware. The users which are accessing the beta Program must have an active Samsung account and be a resident of the above-mentioned countries in which the update has been launched. And the users who are using or going to use Gear VR should stay with the latest Marshmallow version for stable use, as the Android 7.0 Nougat beta that is launched for the Galaxy users is not supporting the Gear VR device yet and giving an error.
Gear VR is getting Network error over the Oculus app after upgrading to Nougat beta version of Android. This error is occurring in the system as the Oculus app is not yet updated for latest Android 7.0 beta. Hopefully, the update will be available soon for the users, till then it would be better if you stay active with Marshmallow for Gear VR support.
