Google will be launching the Google Gem Smartwatch on October 31, claim some reports. Smartwatches have been in the news for quite some time now. Google is also said to be working on their Smartwatch and should see the light of the day soon.
Things are tightly under the wraps, though. That is why there is no word on the device itself, leave alone its launch. However, rumors are doing the rounds that the web giant will be launching their own version of the Smartwatch on the last day of the month.
If the rumors are anything to go by, the Google Smartwatch will be known as Gem. According to Android Police, the Gem is likely to be announced along with Android 4.4 KitKat. The Android Police further added that the launch date had got leaked almost one month ago. However, the device hasn’t yet been announced or launched. This means there could be change of plans from Google’s side.
Android Authority, another web site that specializes in Android devices had said the watch was already ready to be released. The watch was showcased at Manchester and Berlin offices.
The reports further mentioned that the Smartwatch would be manufactured by Motorola and it would function similar to that of Google Glass. In March, NDTV Gadgets had reported that Google was building a Smarwatch that would directly compete with the likes of Apple and Samsung.
Until then, the watch has crossed the prototype stage. Google had filed for a patent back in 2011, the report says. The patent showed that the device came with a dual-screen display apart from having an interactive user interface.
Almost two years down the line, it remains to be seen what changes the Google Gem has seen until it becomes a final product.
