BlackBerry has launched the BlackBerry 9720 in India. The price in India of the device is Rs 15,990. The company had announced this device in the month of August.
One of the features that were most talked about was the dedicated BBM key. It must be noted that this gadget is the first device to have been unveiled in this year and which does not run on BB10.
The announcement back in August had informed that the BB 9720 would be launched in the first fortnight of September. As per the promise, the launch has now materialized. The phone now has been officially launched and the same would be available from tomorrow – September 14.
The available colors of the BlackBerry 9720 will be white, purple, black, pink and blue and as far as the design goes, looks like a blend of Bold and Curve Smartphones.
The phone comes with a touchscreen display of only 2.8 inches and has a resolution of 480 X 360 pixels. The 806MHz Tavor MG1 processor powers the BB 9720, which is built with 512 MB of RAM. The storage capacity is also of 512 MB. However, with MicroSD card, it can be increased even further.
There is the 5MP EDOF (Extended Depth of Field) rear camera that has the Image stabilization feature. There is 4X digital zoom function available as well. The phone has a decent battery of 1450mAh. The backup can span from about 7 hours for talk time and 18 days of standby.
For connectivity options, there are 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. The BlackBerry gadget runs on the BB 7 OS with version 7.1.
The non-availability of BB10 could put off users and it remains to be seen what kind of response the device gets. There have hardly been any new devices in the below Rs. 20,000 category. However, if that is taken into account, the BB 9720 should be the answer.
