Micromax has launched the Micromax Canvas tablet PC. The price in India of the phablet is estimated to be Rs. 16,500.
With the launch of the first tablet PC for the company, the Indian company wants to target the youth. It is the first of the devices for Micromax in their Canvas series.
The gadget carries a display of 8 inches. The tablet PC has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, while it carries 1GB of RAM. It uses the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS.
The co-founder of Micromax, Rahul Sharma said that the company would like to extend and improve the Canvas experience to the users through tablet PCs. There are a range of applications to work with that come with the newest device from the domestic handset manufacturer.
Rahul Sharma further added that the introduction of the Canvas tablet PC means it is the debut for the device. There are many more products that the company will be launching in the near future.
As per the market review of CMR carried out on tablet PCs, in the first quarter of the current year, there were more than 905,000 tabs that were sold by more than 50 international as well as domestic vendors in India.
Micromax with 12.3 per cent of the market share follows Datawind, who command 15.3 % of the share. Apple comes in next with 11.7 per cent of the market share.
