However, Ballmer will continue to stay on his post until the company finds a successor, a spokesman of Microsoft has confirmed.
It can be recalled that Steve Ballmer had said back in 2008 that he would remain with Microsoft as long as his youngest son wasn’t off to college. If that is anything to go by, Ballmer should have stayed at the post until 2018. However, leaving the office at least four years in advance was never expected of Ballmer.
“There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time,” this is what Ballmer said during a press release. He further said that they have got on board a new mission and a strategy and a new organization. He also added that the company has a senior leadership team.
Finally, speaking about a new CEO, Steve Ballmer said that the company needs a CEO who can stay in the chair longer.
