Afte the Pixel XL 2017 reported to getting a virtual bezel-less design, another report now claims that the Pixel 2 will be the first phone to don the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 836
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 is on its way for sure and if reports are anything to go by, it will run the Pixel 2. After the Pixel XL 2017 was in the news for having a virtual bezel-less design with AMOLED display, this is another report about the Pixel series this year.
It’s nothing new to have heard about the Snapdragon 836 chipset. There’s a slight improvement in the 836 version as compared to the SD835 that powers a lot of devices at the moment. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, the Xiaomi Mi 6 and the Sony Xperia XZ Premium are some examples. The GPU and the CPU will stay the same, but only the clocking speed will be boosted.
Though there’s nothing concrete at the moment. Reports from Fudzilla claim that this year’s Google Pixel phones will have the Snapdragon 836 chipset onboard. Now, why we used the word claim is because there’s nothing concrete as such about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 836 now. There aren’t any proofs for backing this claim.
However, if the claim comes true, history will repeat itself. Snapdragon 821 made its debut with the Pixel and Pixel XL last year. And now if SD836 comes to the Pixel series this will be another launch combination again.
As said above, there will be virtually no difference between the Snapdragon 835 and 836. It’s just a minor bump as even the name suggests. The SD836 will obviously have a better performing GPU as well as CPU. It will also be equipped with higher clocking speeds.
There are also reports of Snapdragon 845 in the works. By the next year, at least major flagships will have the SD845 supporting them.
