The upside of Windows 8 is the Modern UI powered by a simple touch. Want to experience it? Then the best bet is to have a Windows 8 tablet. But it must be said that these tablets are indeed rare in the Indian market. As far as the Windows RT tabs are concerned, you will need Modern apps. There are cheap devices as well. But then they run Atom.

There, then remains very little scope to choose from and the high-end tabs and hybrid gadgets. But then the high-end gadgets aren’t really out of reach for many gadget lovers today. And one of them is the Asus Transformer Book TX300CA.Asus_transformer_book_2_121716205436

Design and Build

Asus has always been known for having gadgets that are built beautifully and with superior quality. The Transformer Book is one such example. The entire gadget is built with aluminum. Therefore, it gets a very professional look. The viewing angles are great and do not obstruct the view even when viewed from any angle.

There is a toggle button for power/sleep along with the 3.5mm headphone jack and the volume rocker. There are also two ports, viz micro HDMI port and microSD port. There is a 500GB hard drive in the dock of the Transformer Book.
When docked in, the Book looks heavy at 1.9kg. However, just as a tab, it is way too comfortable to hold and operate.

Display and Battery

The gadget sports a 13.3-inch full HD IPS display. The screen fabricates an excellent range of colors. The correct viewing angles give a typical viewing pleasure and experience. Even at the edges the screen looks smooth and does not seem to create hiccups.

The images look pleasant to the eyes and the videos look even better when viewed with the right angle and in the correct light in the atmosphere around. The icons can be easily made out from each other due to the color combination on the home screen.

The gadget comes bundled with a 38Whr battery. The backup and the performance given by the battery were excellent. The performance in the Battery Eater Pro was brilliant.Asus_transformer_book_3_121716202852_640x360

The Transformer Book comes in both Core i5 and i7. The Intel Core i5-3337U is the latest addition to the portfolio of the company.

The device has a dual-core, 22nm CPU that comes with HyperThreading and runs at 1.8GHz and has a Turbo frequency of 2.7GHz. There is 4GB of DDR3 RAM built-in apart from 128GB of SSD in the tab where the OS sits.

The tab comes with Windows 8 Professional and has a case when it ships.

At a price tag of Rs. 91,999, the gadget looks a tad costly, which is the price of the Core i5 variant. If the Samsung ATIV hybrid PC was to be considered, it costs Rs. 71,999. The weight is also an issue as with almost 2kg, the gadget is not too comfortable to carry around.
