Samsung unveils Galaxy S5 Smartphone at Mobile World Congress

Samsung has unveiled its flagship Android Smartphone – the Galaxy S5 at Mobile World Congress wireless show held in Barcelona. There were a lot of talks about the release of the Smartphone, which finally materialized on Monday.

The head of the Samsung Electronics, J K Shin, started the presentation by mentioning that their company had asked their customers which feature they would require in a Smartphone. The answers were simple. What the customers wanted was a simple design, a great camera coupled with good features.Samsung Galaxy S5

So, what does the Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with?

There is a 5.1-inch OLED screen. The S4 had a 5-inch display, so this’s just a tad bigger. The resolution of the screen remains static at 1080p. One of the features that Samsung has added is the environment-specific feature. This means the display of the phone can adjust its levels automatically with regard to the light conditions in the surrounding.

This can stop people from looking at your device from over your shoulders without your knowledge as the phone’s display can go to an extra dim level.

The Galaxy S5 comes with a 16MP rear camera as against the 13MP in the S4. There are other improvements in the features of this phone like increasing the autofocus speed as well as the actual image sensor. So, all these three features are better than the Galaxy S4. There is also an image processing chip that can shoot videos in 4K.

Another feature worth mentioning is the ‘selective focus’. As the name suggests, you can ‘assign’ more focus to a certain part of the photo, while the remaining part remains blurred, giving the feel of a DSLR camera. You can also compare a certain photo in HDR and non-HDR mode as well.

The battery of the Samsung Galaxy S5 is a grand affair with the company promising on a backup of 10 hours of web surfing with LTE connection. The battery can offer around 12 hours of video playback, which is something worth taking a note of.

The S5 has been built with ‘ultra power saving’ mode. This shuts down everything else apart from the most essential service you may require to communicate in case of any emergency. Samsung promises at least 24 hours of usage even when 10% of battery is left.

There haven’t been any changes in the processor of the S5. So, chances are the changes might be seen in the horsepower, which are likely to vary. There could be Exynos chips or the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips. The prime processor is the 2.5 Ghz quad-core Snapdragon. There are two storage options – the 16GB and the 32GB option. However, there is no word on RAM, but it is being rumored that it could be 3GB.
