Sony has launched another device in the Xperia series – the Xperia Z1 Smartphone. The price of the Xperia Z1 in India is Rs. 44,990.
With this launch, Sony is targeting the high-end market share to up to 20 per cent and double their share. Apart from that Sony has also brought out the next generation of the Smartwatch that will cost Rs. 14,990. The new device will be available from October in India.
Kenichiro Hibi, who is the Managing Director of Sony India, has said that the company is hopeful of getting to the numero uno position in the premium Smartphone segment. Smartphones in this segment are priced more than Rs. 30,000.
The MD of Sony India also further added that they are also eyeing to double the market share, which stays at around 10 per cent at the moment to 20 per cent. Sony wants to achieve this target by the end of the 2014 financial year. To achieve that target, the company will need to innovate at double the speed, Kenichiro Hibi added.
The Xperia Z1 is obtainable across stores from yesterday. There is an installment option of one year without any cash down payment and no interest or processing fees. This is obviously done to attract more customers and realize their dream of 20 per cent market share.
The Xperia Z1 happens to be the costliest Smartphone from Sony. However, given the features the price doesn’t look too big. The most important feature is the camera. There is 20.7MP camera in the Xperia Z1. This in itself diminishes the need for carrying a separate camera.
Moreover, there is 16GB of internal storage – enough to store pictures and videos. Furthermore, the storage can be expanded via MicroSD card up to 64GB. The latest Sony device features a 2.2 Quad core processor, which is slightly less than that of the processors used in desktop computers and laptops.
