Videocon Cube 3 stands out to be the first smartphone to feature the mandatory panic button in the history of Indian mobile industry. The Indian government has made the the panic button mandatory.

Videocon Cube 3, an Indian production is about to hit the gadget market soon. Its launch has been announced by Videocon Mobiles. Videocon’s latest 4G smartphone will be available in new Cube series at an affordable rate of Rs. 8,490 in all the retail stores across India.
The power-packed device Videocon Cube 3 is pre-installed with the emergency response application, known as ‘SOS-Be Safe’ and has features like Alert, Walk with ME as well as Reach on Time. For this, the company has introduced the Panic Button in its entire range of smartphones. The power button of the device will be used as an SOS or panic button. It will be customized in such a manner that in case of emergency alert can be sent to the pre-defined numbers through GPS location.
To be specific, these features would mean – Walk with ME sends the location of a user from time to time to emergency numbers. The feature Reach On Time alerts if the person still didn’t make it to a specific place when he/she was expected to. The “Panic Button” feature has been recently made mandatory by the government to be included in all the mobile phones that are supposed to be sold in India from the start of the next year.
In a press note, the company stated:
“Offering a prompt and one-stop solution, the ‘SOS-Be Safe’ app comes with highly responsive and ingenious features including Alert, Walk with ME, and Reach on Time. The users can trigger these features from their smartphone status bar and set security preferences like time, distance and contacts. The app makes the best use of GPS and provides a map view of nearby police stations and hospitals for any critical situation. Videocon Cube 3 is the first model from brand’s extensive smartphone portfolio to feature this ground-breaking app”.
Going through the specifications, Videocon Cube 3 has end number of features. This dual SIM device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It sports a 5-inch HD (720X1280 pixel resolution) IPS display with 2.5D curved glass with pixel density of 294 ppi. Powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It is equipped with a non-removable battery of 3000 mAh with 20% faster capacity to charge.
Videocon Cube 3 supports internal storage of 32GB and can be further expanded via micro SD card. Talking about the camera, it has a 13MP primary camera with dual- LED flash and PDAF on the rear and a 5MP front shooter for selfies with LED flash. On the connectivity area, it is a 4G enabled smartphone with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, a micro USB port, G-sensor, Light Sensor, Gesture control, and Dual Whatsapp features.
