Snapchat has an attractive option for the users to share edited photos, GIFs, and videos on their profile named Snapchat Stories. The Snapchat Stories are valid for a specific time frame of 24 hours after which it will disappear. Facebook after its failed attempts to own Snapchat has a number of times tried to bring users a similar experience by incorporating Whatsapp’s new feature similar to that of Snapchat.

Send End-To-End Encrypted Media Edits To Friends

One such latest attempt is bringing a “Snapchat Stories” like feature into the Whatsapp messaging app.  Though a clone, Whatsapp’s new feature is going to be a killer with its end-to-end encryption feature. The beta version of the new feature has already been tested successfully during last November. The company recently rolled out the new Status tab to all Whatsapp users across the globe.

The Strong Privacy Settings Comes As A Plus

The latest Status tab will allow users to check their friend’s updates and respond to them privately. It also allows them to shoot and decorate their images/videos/GIFs with captions and sketches and share it with all their contacts chosen under the strong privacy settings of the app.

The Status Tab Replaces Old “Away” Feature

Whatsapp’s new feature brings an important benefit for users who intend to advertise via Whatsapp. The Status tab feature comes as a replacement to the old AOL IM style ‘away’ messages in the app. With a large user base of 1.2 billion sending across

60 billion messages including media content, Whatsapp’s Status tab is said to take the app to the next level of broadcast social media.

The Whatsapp Snapchat Competition

Whatsapp’s new feature is reported to bring a huge setback for Snapchat. With Instagram Stories already posing a tough competition to Snapchat, this move from Whatsapp may lead the Bitmoji owner to a major loss of user base. Hope Snapchat manages to sustain the impending blow of competition.
