Windows 10 Upgrade, download: To cost $119 after July 29

Windows 10 upgrade has been made available to download for many days now.  Windows 10 update will cost $119 after July 29 if users haven’t upgraded yet. So, if you already have a license copy of earlier Windows version like Windows 8 or 8.1, you can get Windows 10 upgrade for free.

A few hours back, Microsoft made an announcement regarding the Windows 10 upgrade. Microsoft officially announced the number of devices that have Windows to update installed so far. According to the figures, the final Windows OS is now installed on in excess of 300 million devices. On March 10, Windows 10 download was installed on around 270 million devices.

Yusuf Mehdi, who is the corporate VP Microsoft Windows and Devices Group, published a blog post. He writes:

“We’re seeing people at home, at schools, at small businesses, at large companies, and other organizations adopt Windows 10 faster than ever, and use Windows 10 more than ever before.”


The goal of the software giant is to reach the 1 billion Windows 10 upgrade in the next 2-3 years’ time. And considering the rate at which Windows 10 is being embraced by various users, the goal looks like it will most certainly materialize for Microsoft.

Windows 10 Update if You Haven’t Already

There is one more announcement that Microsoft wants to make and it’s about Windows 10 update. Microsoft has urged people to go for the upgrade if it’s still pending. The reason is that Windows 10 upgrade won’t remain free as it’s at the moment. The upgrade will carry a cost price of $119 for upgrading to Windows 10 Home post July 29. It is on this day that Windows 10 will complete its first anniversary.

The Windows 10 is a totally different OS version as compared to its earlier editions. Microsoft is pretty prompt to roll out latest builds that always has some new features accompanied by bug fixes. No wonder, Microsoft terms Windows 10 just not an OS, but a “service”.
