Is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 scheduled for an Android Nougat update? The grapevine has that maybe it is. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 runs on Android Nougat 7.1.1, and it may be upgraded soon, GFXBench, the benchmarking website reported. However, nothing certain is known about the update. The company is testing the update, and we shall have to be satisfied with this news bit.
It was not very long ago the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 got the Android Marshmallow update. In the GFXBench listing, the update is said to be for a phone with a 5.7-inch display whereas the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a 5.5-inch display. The clock speed of the hexacore processor is given as 2GHz, and the clock speed of the processor of Redmi Note 3 is only 1.8GHz, as reported by BGR.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 hit the markets back in February 2016 and reached the Indian markets a month later. Two million of these smartphones were sold in India. To refresh your memory, let us take a look at its specs once again. This smartphone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 650 processor. It has two variations of RAM and storage capacity. One is 2GB RAM and 16GB onboard storage and the second is 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage. Its rear camera is 16-megapixel with an aperture of f/2.0. It also has PDAF and LED flash. For 16GB storage, it uses a 4,000mAh battery, and for 32GB storage, it uses a 4,050mAh battery.
With all these specifications and features, it is not surprising that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was a game changer for the Chinese company in India. Although the Redmi Note 4 is out already, speculations are rife about the Note 3 and Android Nougat update on it. Whatever little information is available, one can only hope that the testing period will be incident free and successful.
