The developer website of Apple was hacked and they are unsure of when it will reopen for the developers. The company did not mention any details about the hacking attack. Also, they didn’t specify any time limit of when the site might be up and running once again.
Apple did send emails informing the developers about the attack and said that its website was attacked by an outsider’. The company further said in the mail that they have to shut the developer site down because of an intervention of an intruder.
However, Apple clarified that the personal details of the developers and other sensitive information cannot be compromised as it was safe in an encrypted format. Apple pointed out that the attacker might be able to get access to the names of the developers, their mailing addresses and also email IDs.
As a matter of fact, the developer site has been shut down since Thursday – for almost four days now. Apple initially said that the site was down for maintenance. But it is only now that the real reason is out. The site is expected to be down for some more days to harden the security and provide a better system for safety.
Apple will also be doing an overhauling of the security system, the software on the servers as well as will be rebuilding the entire database. There is no word on when the site will be up and running for the developers, but they said that the site will be up again very soon.
