Microsoft has launched Surface Pro 2 and Surface 2 tablets, which looks like a bid to make itself potent of taking on rivals like Apple. Microsoft is making an effort to make it company that is also into gadgets and provides services.
The two new devices were unveiled in New York, which is a bid at revamping the Surface RT and Surface Pro tablets. Panos Panay, who is the Vice President for Surface, Microsoft, said that the company was working on the same for almost a year and a half now.
The displays as well as the processors for both these devices have got an upgrade. The Surface Pro 2 has Intel Core i5 ‘Haswell’ processor. There’s also an improved processor for graphics that promises an improvement of around 20% to add to the 60% of long battery life from 8 hours to 10.
The pixel resolution for this device is 1366 X 768 and has been enhanced by 50 per cent. There is the Nvidia Tegra 4 processor that powers the processing of the device that comes with color accuracy of 1920 X 1080, which happens to be full HD resolution.
Both gadgets have got improved lenses. The front camera, which is mostly used for conferencing has enhanced sensors that help in delivering clearer images. The software giant is offering as much as 200GB of cloud storage on the Skydrive services for a period of a couple of years. There’s also much more from Microsoft Skype telephone services.
The new devices will make it to the common man on October 22, where there will be 21 markets all over the world that will see the tablets. It is reported that in Australia, the Surface 2 will begin from $529 for 32GB variant while the Surface Pro 2 will carry a tag of $1019 for a 64GB model.
