The Chennai Super Kings allrounder reached the 100-wicket mark in 161 matches, taking the slowest 100 IPL wickets. Also becomes the first ever left-arm spinner.
Slowest 100 IPL Wickets
Ravindra Jadeja, the allrounder in the CSK camp has reached another milestone in his career – capturing 100 IPL wickets. But this landmark doesn’t come as a very sweet memory, though Jadeja is going to relish it. As a matter of fact, Ravindra Jadeja has reached the mark in his 161st match. CSK were playing against the Rajasthan Royals team on Thursday when he reached the feat.
Prior to that, in his 160 matches, Jadeja had taken 98 wickets and was 2 shy of the landmark. Rahul Tripathi was his first scalp of the two when he was bowling his second over. In his third over, he got the Aussie Steve Smith out to reach the elite club.
Before the southpaw, there were 12 other players who had reached the 100-wicket mark. Unsurprisingly, the Mumbai Indians pace bowler Lasith Malinga is at the top with 157 wickets. Following him is the Indian spin bowler, Amit Mishra with 149 wickets.
Piyush Chawla comes in at the third spot with 144 wickets. Dwayne Bravo holds the fourth position, while Harbhajan Singh sits on the fifth spot.
Continuing with the list India pace bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar comes in next, who is captaining the SRH team in the absence of Kane Williamson. And spinner R Ashwin comes in next. Another spinner, Sunil Narine, sits in between before another pace battery of Umesh Yadav, Ashish Nehra, Vinay Kumar as well as Zaheer Khan. All of them have 100 or more wickets in the IPL so far.
Amit Mishra, Piyush Chawla, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, and Sunil Narine so far are the spinners to have taken 100 IPL wickets. All these five are right-arm spinners, which makes Ravindra Jadeja the first left-arm spinner to grab 100 wickets in IPL. However, he has the slowest 100 IPL wickets to his name.
